Twenty One Pilots’ New Song Really GETS US

As the months turn to weeks on our calendars that count down the arrival of Twenty One Pilots’ new album Blurryface, new songs drop every few weeks to build that #HYPE.

Twenty One Pilots has always been a band with music that’s hard to describe. The beat changes three times within one song and the lyrics can be cryptic and confusing to understand. Even though their sound as a band is evolving, the songs off the new album that have been dropped have the same honesty that Tyler and Josh always promise.

The new song “Stressed Out” has exactly what we’re thinking written in it, and Tyler makes it sound even more perfect. “I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink, But now I’m insecure and care what people think”

UH I’m sorry, did you read my diary? Seriously, how cool is it that we have a celebrity telling us the same thoughts we’re thinking. And let’s not forget the finals week anthem we can find in the chorus, “Wish we could turn back time to the good old days, When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re Stressed Out.” Yes, thank you this is true and I will have it on repeat as I edit my twenty page paper.

The theme of the song really is nostalgia, and those fans who remember the second EP ‘Regional At Best’ will see this song as sort of a revamped “Slowtown” (check it out live here!) but a little less lyrically cohesive.

The way this band relates to it’s fans is unlike any other. The music video for “Stressed Out” was shot in the actual houses of the two band members and includes their family in the video. If this is the kind of intimacy we’re getting in music videos, can you image what the TOUR will be like? You can grab tickets to their next world tour here.

Like Tyler always says, it’s our album, our tour, and our band. |-/
