Maxed Out on Maxi Shirts

A few years ago we saw a flourish in maxi skirts. Long, flowing, belted or tied, maxi skirts delivered with their effortless chicness and versatility. But the fashion world has delivered the new holy grail of staple pieces, meet the maxi shirt. Much like the Maxi Skirt, the maxi shirt glides as you walk creating an ethereal vibe, perfect for a girl on the girl on the go. I’ve teamed up with my fellow Lala co-contributor and roommate Isabella Roy to demonstrate the endless usability of the maxi shirt.

First up, we have the bohemian vibe. Isabella pairs her asymmetrical maxi shirt with beautifully floral printed flared pants from Free People and a cute magnifying glass necklace for a fashion-forward and totally comfortable look.

Big, beautiful prints are my weakness so when I spotted this hi-lo maxi shirt on H&M with this marbled-granite graphic I knew I had to add to my shopping cart immediately. Keeping the shirt as the focus, simple black leggings and boots make this downtown cool look perfect for  traversing local art galleries or just a night on the town.

Opting for a shorter length, Isabella pairs her long sleeved maxi shirt with her favorite pair of jeans and a statement necklace creating the best go-to outfit for a day out.

Go maxi, or go home! If you’re looking for a dramatic runway moment go for length. Add contrasting leggings or jeans and a statement necklace and you’re out the door. The high slit allows way more freedom than a dress would, especially with the added comfort of pants.
