With the saturation of auto-tuned, bland songs floating around these days, there’s something totally refreshing about a band that has a little bit of grunge and authenticity. That’s where our newest music obsession, The Black Cadillacs, come in.
The blues-based rock band originated in Memphis in 2008, and is comprised of cousins Will Horton and Matthew Hyrka, bassist Philip Anderson, guitarist John Phillips, and drummer Adam Bonomo. After releasing their first CD, they signed with Young Giant Records and released their second album, Run, in 2012.
If you’re a fan of artists like The Black Keys and Jack White, The Black Cadillacs are right up your alley. Their sound is full of energy and heartfelt rock n’roll – it’s the kind of gritty rock that just makes you want to dance around your room, à la Tom Cruise in Risky Business.
The group has built a strong reputation for bringing high energy and soul to their live shows. They spent much of last year touring, and have performed at music festivals such as SXSW, Bunbury, and Bonnaroo, among others.
Check out their self-titled EP below, and catch them on tour this summer. Happy listening!
