While we wish we had all the time in the world to DIY our little hearts out, sometimes life just gets busy. And between classes, clubs and friends– in college your spare time is few and far between (and most of the time spent taking advantage of those amazing college drink specials). So when it comes to getting creative, we know the best DIYs are the ones that require minimal effort, but make a maximum impact.
Low and behold the picture frame headboard. This DIY is fool-proof, can be done in the same amount of time it takes to watch a Friend’s rerun and takes a bare wall from blah to ‘Wah! Where’d you get that?!’
What you’ll need:
- an old frame (we gave ours a fresh coat of white spray paint)
- assorted colorful cord or string
Step 1: Cut a piece of string about 4 ft. long and tie it around one corner of your frame, leaving the knot on the backside of the frame. Then just simply start wrapping your string around the frame, crossing your strings over each other and moving down the frame. If you run out of string, simply tie it off (leaving the knot in the back again) and continue with a new piece. keep crisscrossing until you’ve made it all the way around in one color.
Step 2: Now add some more colors! We used four, but you can do as many or as few colors as you’d like, depending on the color scheme of your room or bed.
Step 3: Use command strips to attach your frame to the wall behind your bed or simply prop it up by resting it on your bed frame and voila. Your space is transformed.
A special thanks to Dormify for supplying the gorgeous bedding in our DIY.
