How To Conquer The Mid-Week Slump

The mid-week slump. It’s that notorious, yet unavoidable, feeling you get when you realize that you still have 3 days, 2 papers, and an exam standing between you, Friday, and the freaking weekend. But just because your hard-to-get-out-of hunch has you feeling down with the Wednesday blues doesn’t mean you should spend the day binge watching Netflix to ignore life’s problems. Instead, use this mid-week inspo to crush your slump and conquer the week like the amazing, talented, and dazzling rock star that you truly are.

START YOUR DAY WITH A POSITIVE AFFIRMATION

There’s a chance you’ll wake up Wednesday morning feeling down in the dumps, but give yourself a dose of positivity with an affirmation that will remind you that your 100% capable of making it through the week in one piece. Tape it to your mirror. Create a scheduled reminder on your phone for the middle of the day. Say it over and over in a stressful moment. As crazy as it sounds, affirmations are a lot like exercise; they increase the level of feel-good hormones and rewire your brain to think positive thoughts, in turn, creating Wednesday vibes that are nothing but good.

MAKE PLANS TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Call up one of your best gal pals and plan something to look forward to over the course of the week. Instead of wallowing in your mid-week slump pity, you’ll be thinking about the crazy good time you’ll be having Friday night.

GET IN A GOOD WORKOUT

You’ve heard it more times than you can count, but it’s true. Exercise stimulates chemicals in your brain that will leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. So, jump on the treadmill or get in some yoga; it will help you stir up those feel-good hormones and also give you the confidence you need to be your best, most spirited, self.

TREAT YOURSELF

Practice some self-love in the mid of the week by treating yourself to an Instagram-worthy breakfast or delicious latte from your fav coffee shop. Not only will it keep you from procrastinating your upcoming exam or feeling extra unmotivated, but it will help remind you of just how amazing and truly deserving you are of a little extra special treatment once in a while.

MAKE TIME TO RELAX

After a long day, take some time to unwind and rejuvenate your body and mind. Whether you spend some time pampering yourself to an at-home spa night or choose to snuggle up and read your favorite book, spend some time doing something that makes you feel relaxed and ready to take on the rest of the week, stress-free.

REMEMBER YOUR WHY

Sometimes it’s hard to remember why your working so hard to accomplish all these seemingly impossible goals you have set for yourself. Especially when your struggling to make it through the week. The truth is, you are going to face mountains in this life. There are going to be times when the climb seems too difficult to manage. But, in the midst of your mid-week uphill treks, never ever forget why you’re working so hard. Because when you finally reach the top of that mountain, look down, and see all your hard work, you’ll remember why you began in the first place. And, really, there’s not a view more beautiful than that.
