6 Spring Runway Trends We Love

1. Boho Maxis

These pretty pieces have earned a recurring spot in the spring shows, and rightfully so. Floaty florals and cool paisley prints dominated the runways. From bell-sleeves to off-the-shoulders., the maxi is all about a flowing silhouette with a feminine twist on the shape. Add a chunky belt or a layered tassel necklace to top off the look.

2. Colored Snakeskin

An unexpectedly cool pop of color this season comes in a rad snakeskin print. From pleated skirts to asymmetrical minis, this trend comes in a variety of styles. Try pairing some faux snakeskin shorts with distressed tights and studded booties for a badass rocker look. Channel a girl-ier vibe with a midi skirt like the Gucci piece, or a shorter pleated skirt with a crisp white button down for an internship-chic feel.

3. Embroidery

Another major trend was super colorful embroidery on e v e r y t h i n g. Denim, in particular, was a popular host to the bright threads. Groovy flares get a modern update with pretty floral embroidery and a matching mini skirt and jacket look perfect for spring with a cute tie-neck top. Our personal fave is the fringed suede cape/mini skirt combo from Valentino *drooling.*

4. Metallics

Metallics are back in a major way. Dress ’em up or dress ’em down–working these shiny fabrics into your wardrobe add a subtly sexy note to any outfit. Try a cool moto jacket in an unexpected metallic shade, or stick with the classic shiny pieces, and find a dress in the fabric with a fun texture.

5. Black and White

Monochromatic color schemes are all the rage with crisp black and white pairings leading the pack. The sleek duo reigns supreme when it comes to looking chic and sophisticated with minimal effort. Test drive an all white outfit for day time glam–overalls look über cool with a plain white tank underneath. Or try all black for a night out, with a pop of color like fiery red lipstick or funky shoes.

6. Stripes

A classic trend that never seems to go out of style is stripes. They’re always included in runway collections, whether they’re actually printed on the garment or used in the lines of the shape, stripes are most definitely a staple. Give your skinnies a rest and try out a billowing pair of palazzo pants with bright stripes that scream springtime…just pair with a neutral top and minimal accessories to avoid looking too clown-ish.
