5 Quick Ways To Get Back Into The Swing Of School

Well girls, it’s officially time to get back in the swing of things. Early mornings, homework, you know, working towards your future. Woof. The only thing that will make the big bad transition from lazy summer days to early fall mornings is getting acclimated before you go back. Below, 5 quick ways to get back into school mode.

1. Reset your biological clock.

Your body needs to get back into the habit of waking up and going to bed at a set time. To make the transition easier, start setting an alarm for an hour/hour and a half before your first class is supposed to start. Then at night, start winding down for bed around the same time you would do so at school. By easing yourself back into a normal sleep schedule, you’re less likely to have a hard time doing so once you’re back at school.

2. Set 5 goals you can achieve by the end of the semester. 

We all have big goals. But sticking to 5 achievable goals you won’t overwhelm yourself with is a sure fire way to stay focused on the prize. What are some things you want to get done this semester? Be more active on campus? Study harder in a specific class? Study harder in general? Make a list of goals for the semester and put it somewhere you’ll always see it. Then, at the end of the semester, look it over and see how many you were able to check off.

3. Prepare Your Belongings.

Get them allll packed up and ready to go. Nothing is worse than spending your last day at home doing midnight errand runs. Get all of your school supplies, textbooks, and any extra things you’ll need for your dorm room together. Here’s an extra tip: Before buying textbooks for your classes, ask around to see if the professor actually uses it. It’ll save you money and the stress of scrambling to find a book.

4. Reconnect Before Syllabus Week. 

You may have some friends that you didn’t get to talk to as much as you would have liked over the summer or see because they live a good distance away.  Reach out to them via text or even call them; anything to say ‘hey, how’s your summer been?’. It’ll make it 10X more fun when you finally see them in person back at school.

5. Treat yo self.

Every time you turn around there’s another back-to-school sale. To hype yourself up for the new year, treat yourself to a new backpack, shoes, or maybe even a first day of class outfit.
